Question: What lesson have you learnt from an ant?
Answer: The ant is never lazy.
The above is the commonest answer that hang on everybody's lip , time that question is thrown. But I actually tt something much different and which I doubt if anybody has found out. I will only leave this lesson in the sand of time sequel to my demise.
Pl
Guess what it is?
Grab a seat and read on.
I decided to pay my friend a visit. She wasn't around. I lay sprawled on their couch staring at space; probably because I had many things boiling in my mind. Bathed in boredom, I tossed around the couch clockwise and anticlockwise. My eyes lowered on a creature engrossed in an activity. Guess what it was friend?
A miniature red ant which was nuzzling it's antennae on a crumb of bread, which apparently, was larger than it. I laughed in sarcasm as I wondered how it could drag that crumb. It crawled and tried saddling the crumb in it's back, but it seemed every move was futile. It kept dragging, yet, the crumb didn't make a move. When it saw it's effort was futility personified, it gave up and crawled away from it and crawled up to a smaller crumb. It saddled the crumb on its body and crawled slowly but easily to it's hole.
Hold on dear reader! Do you know what that inspired me?
I am a meditative maniac. I always like attaching sober reflection on any moment I experience irrespective of how ridiculous or inconsequential it might look to some people. I always make self-introspection with things that occur around me. People may consider my sensitivity as unnatural or absurd. But I don't really care. You know why? I like feeding up my curiosity. Let me not bask in loquacity. The question bounces back:
What inspired me in that scene?
I will answer. But please permit me to be indirect with the answer. So many people like engaging in tasks that are far from their abilities. When I talk about abilities, I mean professional, physical, mental and financial abilities. When the results slap them on the face, they blame God. Each and everyone of you reading this dear friends knows your limitations. There is something you have tried pursuing like that ant dragged that larger crumb which you are aware it's above you.
Why don't you mellow down like that ant and aim lesser to reach higher. Rome was not built in a day remember. Granted, aiming higher isn't a bad decision. But you need to aim higher and work higher too. But if you can't work higher, aim your reach. Ask yourself, " Do I have the purchasing power for this task?" If that ant had forced it's saddle of the crumb, it would be crushed to death. Always cut your coat according to your clothe(not size). Some people are at the ironic comfort of their grave, some in the hospital all because of trying what was above their reach. A man was electrocuted, you know why? He tried connecting an electric wire to a utility pole to have access to light. What killed the man? Trying to do above your reach. The man wasn't an electrician neither was electricity utility pole.
So please dear friends, be humble like that ant and aim your reach. Don't go for things that are above you. It destroys a lot.
Thanks
